in addition, you will be asked to prepare a two-minute presentation about your choice. Small bites will be served. The committee hopes the attendees continue the festivities by making dinner plans at local restaurants.
As background for the event, it is suggested you watch/stream the movie, Widow Clicquot, the story behind the Veuve Clicquot champagne family and business that began in the late 18th century. This wonderful factual period drama depicts the life of the studious and fastidious widow Barbe-Nicole Clicquot who revolutionized the art of high-end champagne making. After the death of her beloved, but somewhat mentally troubled, husband François the movie is about the trials and tribulations of his widow who, in a male dominated field, fights for the right to run his vineyard and produce his last vintage from the last vines he planted. She is faced with opposition from her father-in-law, staff and the Napoleonic Laws on succession as a woman. it is a factual account of one woman's determination to succeed that left a legacy to this day with her innovative methods of champagne making. A must watch movie, whether you are a lover of period dramas, fine wines or merely a champagne connoisseur.
